Science on the Square: MGE Energy on the Square

Friday10/186:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) energy experts invite you to stop by their displays at Science on the Square. MGE displays will include an electric vehicle/charging display and activities on the top of State Street across from the Wisconsin Historical Museum. Learn about the technology behind EVs, MGE’s new Shared Solar Program, MGE’s electric safety demonstration and take home some tips on saving energy.

Some of the attractions and activities include:

  • Pedal Power Bicycle: MGE’s Pedal Power generator is hands-on and legs-on learning for kids! This one-of-a-kind bicycle shows how much human power it takes to produce electricity for a variety of household items like LED bulbs, incandescent lights, fans, radios and more.
  • Shared Solar: MGE is planning a new Shared Solar array near Middleton’s Morey Airport. Learn how customers can purchase solar electricity for their homes and businesses through this innovative community solar program.
  • Electric Vehicles: MGE will have its Chevy Bolt on display and EV experts available to answer your questions. Find out how battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in electric hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) differ and how they can reduce carbon emissions.
  • Hazard Hamlet: Safe, reliable power is MGE’s top priority. MGE’s tabletop safety model illustrates and simulates potentially dangerous outdoor electric safety situations. Learn what to avoid and how to react to different situations.

MGE is proud to support the Wisconsin Science Festival. See you at Science on the Square!
