Revealing Science

Revealing Science

Thursday 10/15/20
9:00 am - 9:00 pm

** NOTE: THIS IS A SAMPLE EVENT FROM 2020**

Reveal both art and science behind these optically spectacular portraits of three UW researchers. Funded in part by the Madison Arts Commission, along with the Wisconsin Arts Board, and special thanks to Arts + Literature Laboratory.

Did’ya know? Aedan Gardill, an artist and physics graduate student, creates portraits that rely on a special optical property of light, and are nearly invisible unless viewed with something called a polarizer. Watch the video HERE to reveal the art and science behind the phenomenon – and even learn how to make similar art yourself!

  • Want to reveal more? Hear Elizabeth Wright talk about her role as the director of the new internationally recognized imaging center here in Madison
  • Want to reveal more? Hear Filiz Yesilkoy talk about her efforts to develop widely-accessible at-home medical diagnosis technology
  • Want to reveal more? Hear Pupa Gilbert talk about her groundbreaking work with coral growth and her hopes to save the coral reefs
