Come celebrate October Big Day, a global event to unite all people in observing as many bird species as possible. This annual event generates crucial data for scientists around the world on bird populations and migration pathways. Learn how anyone (including you!) can participate in citizen science.
Shorebirds fly thousands of miles each year along ancient, largely unknown migratory routes. Experience this incredible journey at our screening of the new documentary, Flyways. After the screening, we’ll explore how to monitor bird populations and the environment in our community with ornithologist and master birder Steve Betchkal. Check out our library’s new biodiversity kits, featuring binoculars and guidebooks to start your birding adventure!
Betchkal is a veteran journalist who has earned countless awards, including five Emmys. He has traveled the world as a dedicated birder and published multiple books on the subject, including “Birding Trails Wisconsin: 100 Birding Locations Across the Badger State with GPS Coordinates for All Locations.”
Registration is requested at bit.ly/registerBPL or call 715-568-2384. Free event is open for all ages.
