Science Around the Bonfire

Science Around the Bonfire

Friday 10/18/24
7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Hear cutting-edge science from UW-Madison around a bonfire at the Treinen Farm Corn Maze. StoryformScience.com trained each of these scientists on how to explain their work in short stories, making their research accessible to all. Come listen, learn, and give them feedback!

Katie Barnes will talk about Toxoplasmosis and our love of cats; Cheng Ern Yap will talk about how she is unraveling the details of leukemia to find a better treatment; Lauren Kresser will talk about how the interaction of vision and movement solidifies our ability to learn new skills; Miral Abdalaziz will talk about how the rhythms in our brains modulate our memories; and Julia Wiessing will talk about the social norms – yummy verses ick – of eating insects (prepared insects will be available for tasting!).
